Influenced

I subscribed to Teen Vogue a while ago and actually enjoy receiving the now seemingly childish magazine. Of course, my favorite part of it is the cover story, which is usually about a rising celebrity or model, AND the horoscope. I always loved the caption underneath the named page, which states "What the stars have in store for you in love, life, and fashion."

Now to the point. My March 2011 horoscope states "Mar's influence on your routine house will leave you susceptible to illness. Stay as healthy as possible by skipping the late-nigh IM'ing and getting plenty of sleep." I read this when the magazine was mailed to me in February. Not having the patience to wait until March to actually read the horoscope for that month, I read it as soon as I found the horoscope pages, which is actually the section I look for first.

I was not happy. A lot of emotions flooded my brain. For one, that's not something nice to say. I thought horoscopes are supposed to be positive and encouraging. And I must admit, I was a little scared. Scared that the words might actually come true. During my first semester, I was sick for about two months on and off. I went to the doctor and every time they told me that I was fine. Two months of sickness does not = healthy. So, over the winter break I brought a humidifier and now keep the window open the entire day. These precautions, I hoped, would keep me from getting sick again. With only two days until the end of March, I am thrilled to report that I beat the horoscope. My sore throat and stuffed nose did not come back to haunt me...

P.s. Truth be told, I made sure not to stay up too late and to get 8 hours of sleep everyday. :)
